Akinjide Gabriel AKINTOMIDE is a Professor in the Department of Counselling and Human Development, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

He obtained NCE certificate in Biology/Chemistry from the Osun State College of Education in Ilesa.  He also obtained B.Sc.Ed in Biology Education from Obafemi Awolowo University in 2004. Furthermore, He obtained Master of Arts and PhD degrees both in Guidance and Counselling from Obafemi Awolowo University in the years 2009 and 2014 respectively.  His areas of interest include Adolescent Counselling and Reproductive Health. He has also been involved in five different TETFund sponsored national studies on the vulnerable in the society (such as orphans and the aged) and studies on challenges associated with large classes in Nigerian tertiary institutions. He has published more than forty articles in both local and international outlets. He has supervised two PhD and 10 Master’s candidates two of which are now lecturers in a Federal university. He has been honored on a number of occasions by his students as the best part adviser.

He has also received two awards from his College of Education alumni body for outstanding and meritorious services, among other honors. He has served in various capacities within the university where he works, in the community where he lives and in the church he attends. He is the longest serving students’ part adviser among his contemporaries in his department. He was one of the two University science communicators on DRUSSA project and went to represent the university in Ghana and South Africa in 2016. He has served and still serving in many other capacities within and outside the university.

He is currently the Deputy Director of OAU Career Services Centre; Chairman, School of Science Ile-Ife Board of Governors; Chairman, Ifewara Scholarship Scheme: Secretary, Academic Forum of RCCG in OAU; and Secretary, Olu Arijesudade Christian Foundation, among others . As a Christian, he was the parish pastor of RCCG Habitation of Grace and Overflowing Grace at different times, and currently the Area Pastor of RCCG Overflowing Grace Area. He is married with three children.
