Professor Kayode Ayodeji Alao, holds a B.A. (Hons) in Education from the University Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1983; M.A. (Education) in Guidance and Counselling in 1985; and Ph.D. (Education) in Guidance and Counselling in 1992. His university teaching career commenced as a Graduate Assistant in 1983 at Obafemi Awolowo University, where he progressed steadily through academic ranks to a Professor on October 1, 1999
He has served with distinction at both Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State University, (where he was engaged during sabbatical periods) and Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. His teaching portfolio includes foundational and advanced courses in psychological foundations of education, vocational development, counselling techniques, and developmental psychology. Over the years, Professor Alao has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students and contributed extensively to research and publication. With over 50 scholarly publications, including books, journal articles, and conference proceedings, his research has consistently explored the intersection of career guidance, counselling psychology, and student wellbeing. Notably, he pioneered cross-cultural studies in career decision-making and diagnostic counselling frameworks contextualized for African societies.
Beyond academia, Professor Alao has served as a consultant, curriculum developer, and examiner for institutions and agencies across Nigeria. His contributions span teacher training, educational planning, and psychological services, reflecting a holistic approach to educational advancement and human capital development.
